The 2024 International Day of Mathematics
This was the fifth celebration of the IDM since UNESCO proclaimed it in 2019.
The theme for 2024: Playing with Math
In 2024 we celebrated mathematical games, puzzles and other entertaining activities, but also "playing" with mathematics itself, exploring, experimenting, and discovering.
We played with the theme! In some languages the verb play means other things, like "performing" and instrument, or "acting" in a theater.

The Math Remix Creative Challenge
To celebrate the 2024 IDM we invited you to participate in our Math Remix Creative Challenge by combining mathematics with an everyday thing or place and sending us a photo of your creation.
People from all over the world added mathematics to their schoolyards, towns, natural landscapes, group of friends, and even their animal companions! We created a gallery of some of the most creative and inspiring remixes, and an interactive map to explore and discover creations from all over the world.
